Alikhan Smailov met with Ambassador of Kyrgyzstan

Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan Alikhan Smailov met with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kyrgyz Republic to the Republic of Kazakhstan Dastan Dyushekeyev.

During the talks, the parties discussed issues of cooperation in the areas of trade and investment, transit and transport, as well as water and energy balance.

Alikhan Smailov noted that over the 30 years of established diplomatic relations between the two fraternal countries, mutual understanding has developed in the political, trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian fields.

Discussing the issue of mutual trade, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan expressed his opinion on the need to expand the product range. A key achievement in the trade and economic sphere was the increase in the volume of mutual trade and the achievement of the target of $1 billion. The new goal is to reach a trade volume of $2 billion.

“We have a proposal for 190 commodity items that have the potential to increase trade. We need to speed up the implementation of the project to create industrial trade and logistics complexes in the area of ​​the Karasu-Aktilek checkpoint,” Smailov said.

Regarding cooperation in the water and energy sector, the head of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Kazakhstan noted that issues in this area are being resolved consistently.

In turn, Dyushekeyev expressed the interest of the Kyrgyz side in attracting direct investment from Kazakhstan.

“We continue to work actively to improve our investment and trade policies. Favorable conditions are being created for doing business and ensuring the protection of the rights of entrepreneurs and investors,” said the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kyrgyz Republic to Kazakhstan.

Dyushekeyev also voiced a proposal to ensure food security in the framework of meeting mutual interests. The purpose of this decision is to develop a consolidated policy to reduce the risks of food safety violations in the face of instability in foreign markets.

Following the meeting, the parties expressed their readiness for cooperation on all issues discussed.
