Government Commission gets acquainted with progress of work on restoration in Almaty and Almaty region

Government Commission chaired by the First Deputy Prime Minister Roman Sklyar held a working visit to Almaty city and the Almaty region in order to assess the progress of restoration and compensation of the damage caused by the resent unrest in the area.

Akim of Almaty Bakytzhan Sagintayev said that today transport communication and food enterprises are operating in the city as usual, intensive work is underway to restore the road infrastructure.


27 city buildings are subject to repair and restoration work, of which 10 objects of state and private property will be reconstructed at the expense of budget funds. The remaining 17 facilities have minor damage and will be restored as part of the social responsibility of the business. The city has already cleared 9 objects by the efforts of 20 construction companies, about 800 people and more than 40 special equipments were attracted.

Work is also underway to restore CCTV cameras. At the moment, out of 587 damaged CCTV cameras, 434 cameras have been restored. Work on the restoration of all surveillance cameras will be completed on Jan. 21, 2022.


Also, on the basis of the public reception of Open Almaty, a hotline has been created on the issues of compensation for damage to representatives of SMEs affected by the riots.

In the city of Taldykorgan, together with the akim of the Almaty region Kanat Bozumbayev, the commission got acquainted with the completion of the repair work of 2 cultural facilities. Restoration of 5 buildings of state bodies has begun. More than 400 people and 14 equipments were involved in the work.

According to NCE Atameken, 141 commercial facilities were damaged in the region. More than 120 SMEs have completed restoration work and have started their main activities. The total amount of damage in the Almaty region amounted to 16.1 billion tenge.

Roman Sklyar instructed to continue intensive work to restore and improve the life of the regions.
