The main events of the week from Feb. 17 to Feb. 22, 2020

  • At the regular government session chaired by Prime Minister Askar Mamin, the Concept of the State Program for Geological Exploration for 2021-2025, issues of the development of electronic commerce, measures to reduce non-priority budget expenditures were considered.
  • The first President – Elbasy Nursultan Nazarbayev received the Prime Minister Askar Mamin. During the meeting, the Head of the Cabinet of Ministers presented information on the socio-economic development of the country and the attraction of foreign direct investment. Mamin spoke about the measures taken by the Government of Kazakhstan to create new jobs, implemented infrastructure projects, and the development of the agro-industrial complex.
  • On Wednesday, the meeting of the Higher Scientific and Technical Commission under the Government was chaired by Prime Minister Askar Mamin. Information was listened on the priority areas for the development of science and the distribution of grant funding for scientific research by young scientists for 2020-2022, as well as on applied scientific research of a technological nature in the field of nuclear energy.
  • On Feb. 20, 2020, Mamin inspected the construction of the Athletic Sports Complex and the Kazakh Drama Theater in Nur-Sultan, which are scheduled to be commissioned by the Capital’s Day in 2020.
  • On Friday, under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Askar Mamin, a meeting of the Council on Improving the Investment Climate was held. The meeting addressed issues of tax policy and its impact on the investment climate in Kazakhstan.
  • On Feb. 22, Askar Mamin took part in a discussion session between the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the World Bank on issues of attracting foreign direct investment.
