Alikhan Smailov discusses new economic reforms in Kazakhstan with International Monetary Fund mission

Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Alikhan Smailov held a meeting with the Head of the International Monetary Fund mission in Kazakhstan, Nicolas Blanchet.

The parties discussed the results of the mission in our country, as well as the measures of the Government of Kazakhstan to ensure macroeconomic stability, control inflation, improve the efficiency of tax administration and budget planning, employment, digitalization and reducing Government involvement in the economy.

In addition, initiatives of Kazakhstan to achieve carbon neutrality by 2060, steps to attract investment, current foreign economic challenges and other topical issues of the regional agenda were considered.

"We highly appreciate the strategic nature of our partnership with the IMF and the contribution the Fund makes to the development of our country," Alikhan Smailov said.

In turn, Nicolas Blanchet praised the reforms carried out in Kazakhstan and the work of the IMF country mission.

"We have a strong and constructive cooperation. We welcome the Government's steps on implementation of new reforms and are ready to provide our advice and technical assistance in all areas of interest," Nicolas Blanchet said.

In conclusion, the Prime Minister also stressed the readiness to continue close bilateral cooperation.
