Alikhan Smailov holds meeting with Deputy Prime Ministers of Uzbekistan

Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Alikhan Smailov and Deputy Prime Ministers of Uzbekistan Jamshid Khodjaev and Jurabek Mirzamahmudov discussed issues of strengthening trade and economic cooperation.

During the meeting, Alikhan Smailov noted that Uzbekistan is Kazakhstan's main trade and economic partner in the Central Asian region. Thus, based on last year's results, the bilateral trade turnover grew by almost 33%. The positive dynamics remains in the current year.

Prime Minister also stressed that the Kazakhstan-Uzbekistan Intergovernmental Commission and the Forum of Interregional Cooperation make a great contribution to strengthening economic cooperation between the states.

As Jamshid Khodjaev noted, Kazakhstan is a strategic partner for Uzbekistan, so the country's leadership is ready to further strengthen comprehensive cooperation.

"We need to increase the pace of cooperation. If we have many strategic cooperation projects, it will give a boost to business development and remove barriers to trade. In general, we are ready to work carefully to increase mutual trade turnover," Jamshid Khodjaev said.
