Alikhan Smailov outlines priorities for Zhambyl region administration

Prime Minister Alikhan Smailov arrived to Taraz city with a working visit to participate in a meeting of deputies of maslikhats of all levels of Zhambyl region.

Prime Minister read a letter from the Head of State on the submission of two candidates for the post of akim of the region for consideration by the deputies of the region Alikhan Balkybekov and Nurzhan Nurzhigitov.

Following the results of voting out of 191 deputies 164 voted for Nurzhigitov, 27 deputies supported the candidature of Balkybekov.

During the meeting with regional activists Alikhan Smailov noted that Akimat has the tasks on further social and economic development of the region, including the Action Plan to implement the pre-election program of the President and other strategic documents.

Thus, measures on modernization of social facilities, housing and utilities infrastructure, energy and rural infrastructure, support of entrepreneurship, launch of new investment projects, improvement of local roads etc. are planned for the coming years.

In particular, 13 new schools for 9,500 pupils and 30 primary healthcare facilities, as well as three district hospitals will be opened in the region. In addition, it is planned to complete construction of the second stage of a biopharmaceutical plant, which since 2021 will produce a domestic vaccine QazVac against coronavirus infection.

"The Akim of the region must ensure the effective implementation of all outlined plans to improve the living standards and welfare of citizens," the Prime Minister stressed.

Alikhan Smailov also added that the region's leadership should keep under control the work on increasing the production of domestic food products and preventing unjustified price increases.
