Olzhas Bektenov holds Asset Return Commission meeting

On 29 March 2024, a meeting of the Asset Return Commission was held under the chairmanship of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan Olzhas Bektenov.

The meeting of the Commission was held in an updated composition. The Commission included the president of the Civic Alliance of Kazakhstan, Banu  Nurgaziyeva and Deputy of the Majilis of the Parliament Marat Bashimov.

Following the results of the meeting the Commission adopted the following decisions.

A number of agreements on the return of illegally acquired assets totalling over 85 billion tenge were approved. Among the assets returned to the state are residential and administrative buildings in Kazakhstan and abroad, cash, shares in companies, expensive jewellery, more than 10 thousand hectares of land.

In addition, approved the introduction of a lawsuit to the court to return to the state as an asset of unexplained origin of the enterprise worth more than 10 billion tenge, previously illegally transferred from the state under the control of one of the subjects of the Law "On the return of illegally acquired assets to the state" (hereinafter - the Law).

By decision of the Commission, the register of subjects of the Law was supplemented with two new persons, in respect of whom the Asset Return Committee of the General Prosecutor's Office will take appropriate measures.

"On the instructions of the Head of State, the work on the return of illegally acquired assets will be intensified. At the same time, pressure on business is inadmissible. All assets returned to the state will be directed to socially useful purposes," Olzhas Bektenov emphasised.

The work of the Commission continues.
