Strengthening of material, technical and human resources potential of water industry discussed by Government

The issues of strengthening human resources capacity of the Committee on Water Resources and its basin inspections, as well as improving their material and technical equipment were considered at the Water Council of Kazakhstan session chaired by Prime Minister Alikhan Smailov.

The Minister of Ecology, Geology and Natural Resources Serikkali Brekeshev reported that to improve water resources management efficiency in the country it is suggested to revise and strengthen the organizational structure of the Committee on Water Resources, as well as to significantly strengthen the territorial basin inspections.

Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Finance Yerulan Zhamaubayev, Minister of National Economy Alibek Kuantyrov, as well as the representative of the International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea in the Republic of Kazakhstan Amirkhan Kenshimov took part in the discussion.

The Prime Minister supported the proposal to improve the logistics of the relevant units. At the same time he instructed the Ministry of Ecology to carry out an additional analysis of the proposed measures in terms of personnel policy.

"It is also necessary to pay special attention to science and education. Give proposals on development of water management science, strengthening of relevant research institutes, because it will not be possible to develop this sector without science. When training personnel, emphasis should be made on introduction of modern professional standards," Alikhan Smailov said.
