At the government session chaired by Prime Minister Askar Mamin, the sanitary and epidemiological situation in the country was considered.

According to the Minister of Healthcare Alexey Tsoy, more than 240 million cases of CVI have been registered in the world, about 300 thousand cases are registered per day. More than 4.9 million people have died. According to the WHO European Region, over the past two weeks, out of 54 countries in 33 countries, there has been an increase in the incidence.

Over the past 14 days, the largest increase in the incidence was noted in Poland, where the incidence increased by more than 122%, in Georgia — 98%, in Ukraine — 69%, Hungary — more than 50%, in Armenia — more than 40%, in Russia 30%, in Turkey, Austria and Germany, Kyrgyzstan, Belarus — from 2 to 10%.

A decrease in morbidity is noted in 21 EuroWHO countries, including Israel by 61%, Spain by 43%, Switzerland by 39%, in Montenegro by 24%, in Italy by 22%, in France by 16%, in Azerbaijan by 7%.

In Kazakhstan, the incidence over the past two weeks has decreased by 17%. In general, in Kazakhstan, over the past two months, the incidence has decreased by 3.8 times, and the mortality rate by 3.6 times.

“Today there are 6 regions in the green zone: Zhambyl, Kyzylorda, Mangystau, Turkistan, Aktobe regions and the city of Shymkent. The Republic of Kazakhstan and 5 regions are in the yellow zone. 6 regions remain in the red zone (the cities of Nur-Sultan, Almaty, Akmola, Kostanay, Pavlodar and North Kazakhstan regions). The reproductive number is 0.97,” Tsoy informed.

Over the past month, the daily incidence has decreased 2.1 times, the number of severe and extremely severe cases has decreased 1.6 times.

There is also a decrease in the number of patients on inpatient treatment by 1.4 times (from 13 thousand as of Sep. 18 to 9.1 thousand as of Oct. 18), the number of patients on outpatient treatment decreased by 1.3 times (from 57 thousand to 43 thousand patients).

In Kazakhstan, since Aug. 1, there has been a decrease in the employment rate of infectious beds from 56 to 34%, intensive care beds from 45 to 29%. There are about 20 thousand beds in the reserve.

According to the Minister of Healthcare, in connection with the stabilization of the epidemiological situation, work continues on the closure of temporary infectious facilities. In the period from Aug. 25 to Oct. 18, 2021, 103 facilities (30,881 infectious beds) were closed in all regions.

At the same time, vaccination of the population against CVI continues. The vaccination plan was revised and today it is about 11.4 million people.

"1-component vaccinated more than 8 million people, coverage of the subject population was 70.7% or 42.7% of the population, the second component vaccinated more than 7.1 million people, covering 63% of the subject population or 38% of the population," said the minister.

Influenza vaccination is ongoing. To date, about 1 million 380 thousand people have been vaccinated, or 54.5% of the subject population.

Vaccination coverage above the republican figure is noted in 7 regions, including in the Turkistan region, 85% of subjects are covered, in the cities of Nur-Sultan, Shymkent, Akmola and Kyzylorda regions — more than 60%, in the city of Almaty and East Kazakhstan region — more than 55 %.
